Bridgeport retrofit

Hello all,
I have a Bridgeport Series I with stepper motors and a BOSS 5 or 6 Control
that has died. I would like to convert the machine over to a PC control
running CNCPro or other software package. I have two questions.
1. Is it possible to isolate the existing drivers and interface them to the
PC parallel port?
2. Are there any inexpensive stepper drivers that would drive those
prehistoric looking steppers?
Thanks for any replies.
