Re: "No board" error with the DRO kit

I would have suspected some such user error, either in the build or
software configuration as well, which is why I tried the board in my
486. The confusing thing to me is that the DRO board IS recognized and
no errors are reported (error=0) when the first screen appears when I
run it in the 486. Its only when I try to run the same board and software in
the 386 that I get the 'no board' error. Is there something in another
area that could compete with the board for recognition? I think that my
next step will be to remove all the boards from the ISA slots that I
don't need, and try a slot that I know works (like the one the video
card is installed in now) for the board, and remove the rest.
I have revised the dro.cfg file each time I moved the jumper. Is there
a possibility that the hex code for the location should be used instead
of the 544 type number? I used the 'edit dro.cfg' command in DOS to edit
and save the file which seemed to work fine.

I just ran a new test with the "new dro software"from tom on my old 386-16
sx2 " I tested the board that I am sending to Fred Proctor. It ran fine on
both my 486-66 dx2 and my 386.
I susspect that if the softaware inn.t configured correctly that would do
it. Look at Toms web site for the addresses that match the jumper settings.
I use the second set from the left which is 544.
One other problem may be that you may have a folded pin or you installed the
74ls138 backwards.
