The 8 wire motor gives you the widest choice of winding arrangements
(uni- or bi-polar, and series or parallel for bipolar drive).

But, the Japan servo motor may have a little lower inductance than the
Astrosyn, even with the parallel arrangement of the astrosyn. It is pretty
hard to tell from a part number.
