Hi Ballendo,

I did sir!!! (creep, creep)

One thing which seems to have gone over the heads of a number of people is
the TIME element involved. That is, we are talking about 550 lbs raised ONE
FOOT IN ONE SECOND or 33000 lbs raised one foot in one hour. Sure, use
enough sheaves and pulleys and a wee kittycat could probably lift the 33000
lbs BUT, at the breakneck speed it would have to move to do so, it would
undoubtedly expire before it had moved it a foot!! So, whether the weight is
on a line over a single pulley or on a 5-sheave pulley set up, the horse
would be just as knackered in raising it by one foot in the requisite time
as, with a sheaved pulley set-up, it would have to pull a much greater
length of line and so would have to gallop to do it in time.
