Rab,

On cursory examination, it appears that Compucut uses HPGL (plotter
language) as a language to cut parts. While this is entirely workable,
it is essentially a 2 1/2 D language. Gcode (G & M codes) is the
industry standard for machining. Depending on your goals, this may be
sufficient, however gcode will ultimately be more useful IMO.

SuperCam uses HPGL, and I would examine it as well as MaxNC before you
decide. Also look at Camtronics and CNCPro. I'd also mention Vector
CAD/CAM, or a clone CAD program and a .DXF to gcode converter.
