How about the old fashined way- a pantograph. I just found a Hermmes
engraving pantograph for $100. If I hooked the stylus end to an X-Y
screw I could shrink by a factor of 12 to the spindle.
Gorton had a demo of such a unit at EASTEC a couple years ago.
Jewelers have used pantograph engraving 'forever'.
