implementation of a digitizing probe I visualized essentially
the same concept but never seem to have the time to draw or
prototype anything. Jon's suggestion that 316 stainless would
be a good material is comforting as it is commonly available
in the forms needed. While a printed circuit board makes for
easy mounting, other home brew solutions should also work well.
I would recommend keeping the sense current through the balls
at 10 to 20 milliamps to help keep oxides from inhibiting the
switch action.
