Miller sells the power correcting capacitors as an option. They attach
to the mains input leads and are NOT needed in residential areas.
A friend bought these unknowingly and had the same experience. High
input demand on idle. Power correction is only required in industrial
areas with typically high mains inductive loadings. Not so in residential
settings.
Reading the fine print in the instructions revealed this. Of course the
sales Dudes are happy to sell you what ever you want, regardless.
