This is apparently how both the Renishaw and Fowler probes
are connected (from a Fowler manual). I presume the switch
is the electrical simplification of the probe contact circuitry.

When the Normally Closed switch (according to the scan) is opened,
another circuit notices and energizes the LED circuit (the LED is
also in the probe body, and so must be energized externally through
the connector).
