I have had no problems with switching the x axis control pins to a rotary
axis with the steps/inch scaled to fit the circumference. Made up an
adapter cable with a switch to select the correct stepper driver. The only
real problems occured when I had a significant z depth...needed a variable
step legnth :-)

I have MaxNC, use Miceografix Draw for CAD and all freeware conversion
programs. Let me pose this question "IF" you know the circumference of a
straight sided glass and could program the steps to match: could you use
the X as the rotator?
