Hi all!

One place where patents can be useful is the selling of a business
which holds patents. An on-topic example of this is the "NEW
ballscrew" patent obtained by Dave Staranko(sp?) of the former
digital tool (CNC router manufacturer) company.

This patent made the product seem unique and protect-able to the
eventual buyer of the company (who was a lawyer :-) Figures...)

People buying businesses often ask if there are any patents held by
the business. Sometimes even useless patents can drive the purchase
price of a business upwards...

BTW, The attorney who bought digital tool 'appeared to' pretty
quickly drive it into the ground. It 'seemed' that he didn't value
the HUGE "brand awareness" digital tool USED TO have. If it ain't
broke, don't fix it!
