Smoke,
Just after hitting the send button, I think I answered my own
question. Had the _gcode.nci file open in Notepad, (to copy and
paste the lines to my previous post) and decided to re-read the
CutViewer help file. Here's what I did and it works.
Changed the first section of _gcode.nci
From:
[common]
CNC=Standard G-code
fileExt=*.nc
comment_chr=;
To:
[common]
CNC=Sherline Mill
fileExt=*.nc;*.txt
comment_chr=;;(
Now when I open a file from the File, Open menu, I see
'Sherline Mill (*.nc,*.txt)' as one of the options in the 'Files of
Type:' window at the bottom. And all files of both .txt and .nc
are displayed. Also either ; or ( work interchangeably as comment
characters in the g-code file.
It has created a new file type that includes all the features that
have been modified in the config. I renamed the congig file
and that doesn't seem to make any difference as long as it has
a .nci extension. And it 'cuts' my flywheel perfect. Lots a fun.
Fascinating but a heck of a time killer.
Lots of luck
