I think you are missing the point of converting. It is not to let you to
continue using your egroups ID, but to allow them to move your egroups
profile information (the groups you belong to, your method of reading the
groups, etc.) to a NEW or if you have one already existing Yahoo id. If you
don't have a Yahoo id already just make up a new one and you will use it
from now on.
