I am interested in hearing of your progress, we have one of these Dyna 2400
at Oregon Institute of Technology where I work. It's not working and we'd
like to bring it back to life.

As I understand it, which could be very wrong, MasterCAM generates G-Code
which is not the conversational code the Dyna understands. We also have a
larger Dyna 4xxx (?), not table top, which is running. For it we use a
conversion program running on a PC which takes G-Code in and ouputs Dyna
code which is downloaded via serial port (?) to the Dyna 4xxx. This is a
pain so we've purchased a new controller for the larger Dyna which
understands G-Code although we haven't had time to take the Dyna off line
and retrofit it.

You might be able to find a conversion program from G-Code to Dyna if there
is a way to dump the code into the 2400. We called Dyna trying to get
manuals on the 2400 and were told that Dyna doesn't have these anymore. I
find this hard to believe but it's hard to buy a manual they say they don't
have. :-(

I think we'll try to, or get the electronic tech to, figure out how to
patch into the stepper drivers while bypassing the Dyna 2400
controller. If we can't I think we'll get new stepper drivers. Either way
we'll bring up EMC on a P100 and use this to drive the 2400. It would be
far better than the Dyna controller and EMC understands G-Code.

Another long term project, just what I need. Please let me know how you
progress.
