Putting a .05 or .1 uF capacitor rated for at least 400 V from each
line terminal to ground should be nearly as effective as a packaged
filter unit. I steered you to surplus because I knew what these things
cost new!

Well, it sounds like it is not a critical situation anymore, just keep your
eyes open for sale flyers, etc. and you might come across a suitable
unit at a reasonable cost. You can search eBay, too!
