John, Tracy,

I could be totally off base about this, but here's my thoughts...

You may be spending more in tooling than you're saving in belts! I'm
assuming that there is no deterioration of surface finish since you
didn't mention any, but have you checked/ compared?

The rubber of a typical o ring will "bounce" each time the cutting
edge hits the work. Maybe only a little, and maybe you're not
noticing, but I'd bet the parts and the cutters ARE!

If it's working for you, great! But tools and parts are worth more
than belts, and this could be sneaky to determine...

Hope this helps.

P.S. The motor mount of the MaxNC is a weak point, IMO. I think you
will be better served to improve the setup so that a PROPER belt will
have a useful life. /<flame suit on>
