I gotta agree with both of you on this! Joe, out here in the west,
the series I and II BP's are seldom found at your fleamarket prices,
but... Dave, If you are gonna CNC a bridgeport, you'll be money ahead
if you start with a series I or series II machine like Joe suggests.
(some even have toolchangers)
The ONLY 'real' downside to this is the sometimes greater axis travel
available in the stock BP's (compared to the MFR CNC'd BP's). Do try
to find out if the cncBP made the same part for years... (means
localised wear in ONE part of the travel; a BAD thing) job shop
cncBP's and schools with cncBP's in the corner are better bets,IMO.
