As Jon said, it would be really difficult to damage the quill
ballscrew in a series 2 cnc. The screw is massive almost 2" diameter
and short in length (even though it has a hole in the middle). I
guess if the head were dropped on the quill or something like that.
Anyway, quill and leadscrew replacement is very easy if you have the
replacement parts, but these would be nearly impossible to find.
The only economical solution would be to buy a whole mill for
the head and use the rest as spares.
