ac servo motors

Hi all,
Now that I have re-registered with these turkeys,
we'll see if I can post again.

I just got some ac servo motors ( thanks to
eBay,..... I couldnt' resist).

Upon opening them there are no sensor leads...just
the three phase leads. So......are these driven by
picking off phase and amplitude and using a dsp to
provide control?
