That explains a lot. Unfortunately, I thought I done well the other
day by finding some 10mm threaded rod with 1mm 'V' pitch while in
town. I have some blocks of teflon, which although pretty soft, I
thought I might try for the nut, if I have it a couple of inches long
and split it lenght-wise then slightly clamp it I was hoping this
might spread the load and help conform to the thread. From your
discussion of thread angles it seems that the teflon would
likely 'push out', especially with the type of rod that I have.
I'll probably still give it a try while I'm looking for a better
leadscrew assembly.
