You might check out your power transistors. They are usually blocks
with three leads out one end and a metal flange with a hole on the
other. The flange is to connect to a heat sink. They useually get
hot and need a heat sink. The metal box/enclosure is often used for
this purpose.
Be carful as somtimes the flange is connected electically to the one
of the pins. They make a nylon washer wiht internal sleave, nut and
bolt and a nylon or mylar spacer for these guys.
Check the manufactureres data sheet for the part. www.findchips.com
for the part number, then if Digikey has the part, copy the part
number and go to the manufacturer's link and you should be able to
get data sheets.
A simple stand off bracket is to use nylon nuts and bolts. just make
sure that the soder tips don't touch any metal.
