To Belt or Not to Belt

I have this 6x10 table begging for a 3-Z gantry, Z#1 to be a perske
5hp,Z#2 a 1hp dc for drilling,and Z#3 a belt driven R8 spindle for
milling.
Majority of my production is 2d wood, some times plastic and a fair
amount of aluminum[hence the milling spindle]
I am on the verge of ordering some belts and servo gear boxes
so I can get fast rapids.
Probably GT2 but maybe NSW Plastics HTT 8mm. Nsw said that if they
do the specifications/calculations are for 10 million cycle life!
Looks like belt width from either supplier will be in the 30-50mm
range[my choice]
I have gone back and forth ,belt vs rack&pinion and always come
back to belts.
Any input is appreciated.
