Hi Carl,

That sounds right. I found I need a brake (energize the stepper?) on my
rotary table when I swap it out to cut with 'Y'. My practice was to
switch the cable, position the rotary table, and then switch back to 'Y'
for some things. I've found it better to keep it energized, or as my
son was doing, keep a little finger pressure against it's rotation. A
new driver will help me with that.

I just had an idea, there is a part called a "Cross point switch"
(Intersil CD22M3494SQ), which is a switch matrix for 16 in X 8 out lines
(analog). This part can be configured by writing command words to it.
This would allow rerouting signals anyway one could want!
