Bandit - Opinions?

Hello group,
I'm on the verge of buying a Hardinge tool room lathe, because my South
Bend 10K is showing some real limitations as far as precision and finish.
I have found this Hardinge chucker on eBay, and it has a Bandit control CNC
retrofit. It occurs to me that this would do everything that the tool room
lathe would do, and more, if the control was workable. Does anyone know
the Bandit? Does it drive steppers or servos? If it is completly obsolete,
could it be replaced with a PC based control? I know some folks have
mentioned Hardinge chuckers. Does anyone have any general advice?
