To give some background, I worked for the largest manufacturer of industrial
woodworking machinery in the world. They are located in Rimini Italy and
their machines were brought into the U.S. thru their own totally owned
subsidiary known here as SCMI now SCM Group U.S.A. The first CNC routers
brought into the U.S. had the Bosch Alpha 2 or 3 CNC controls on them. Then
they switched to the GE Mark Century One controllers because the name was
U.S. and because the controls were just plain superior to the the Bosch or
Seimens controls in the same price range. Of course being a European company
they preferred to use something built in Europe and the Mark Century One
filled that bill as well since it was in fact made in Spain. Keep in mind
that although GE called virtually all of it's CNC controls Mark Century it is
the Mark Century One and One Plus that were made in Spain.
The documentation is awesome on the later ones and I am sure that the Fagor
documentation is just a good. If you can get the full document line, MTB
manual, Installation manual, programming manual you even have a good
educational base. Also I have had no problem gettting the detailed
schematics ( I also repair the controls sometimes) from GE in fact when I
needed them. I am sure Fagor will be good to work with as well.
