Mario:
Most of the time the lasers used to cut glass, graphite and some organic
tissues are examer lasers. These lasers due to their unique design ablate
the material instead of cutting through with a molten material moved by the
assist gas or the material melting and dissipating by an exothermic
reaction. The ablative process carries the heat away from the material in
the vapor formed by the process. Thus the material is subjected to less
thermal stress. A lot of surgery is performed using this system as it has a
much smaller heat affected zone and less tissue damage.
