Homebrew DRO system

I've been watching this list for a few weeks now - I'm amazed at the level of knowledge floating around here! I'm about to order a Shoptask Eldorado with Quadralift option. I plan on outfitting with with the Camtronics/Gekodrive/EMC 3 axis CNC setup, with an eye towards the 4th axis/rotary table option later. I'd like to go ahead and setup a DRO-Plus system as well - 3 axis for now, looking at a rotary encoder for the rotary table later. Here's my question - where is a good place to pick up the linear encoders? Is the 4 axis kit ($80) from Camtronics the way to go?
