Since Matt is using EMC, I expect he wants the Kulaga/Mauch encoder
feedback card for.... encoder feedback! (ie closed loop)

For the most inexpensive new linear encoders, the
http://www.usdigital.com tape at $2/inch and $28 for the HEDS
encoder is the best deal around. That will give a max of 1440
steps/inch. If you need a higher resolution, you'll have to pay
a lot more.
