Hi,
The motor will be dissipating twice heat it should for very little
gain in holding torque, about 30 to 40 percent. There will be no
improvement at higher speeds at all compared to 0.5 amps. That 1 amp
current in half winding will give twice the power at higer speeds
compared to full winding.
