Joe,

Good point here!

An important thing about linear motion systems: They can LOOK very
much the same, and BE totally different! Both Thomson and THK, for
example makes MANY "levels" of accuracy in their linear bearing line.
Trying to fit the super-accurate types to an extrusion based machine
is an exercise in futility. Trying to get hi-precision from their lo-
end stuff is equally frustrating!

The slide shown in the pics at the auction appears to be a VERY hi-
dollar type designed for hi-precision. Often these are for lighter
loads/higher speeds than what we Cnc'ers generally expect/accept.

Is 350 bucks too much? No, and yes. No, if the slide is going to work
for you in your application. As others have said, you can't buy the
parts shown for anything near $350. Yes, it is too much if you
consider that it is specifically designed (note the weird casting and
angles mentioned in the copy) for something (and you don't know what
that something is/was and how it relates to what YOU want to do with
it!)and the fact that it is used, and just how used, you won't know
til ya get it...

Any time you are "piecing together" a machine from unrelated
subassemblies purchased at different times from different sources,
you are running a risk higher than not doing it that way. You need to
decide if the savings are worth the risk!?

Should you raise your "internal" price structures? Hard to answer. If
you do, you will find more things that seem ok, price wise. If you do
not, you will purchase for less money, but might take more time.

The REAL question is: Do you have the time to wait for "your" price?
If so, then do so. If not, you will HAVE to change your thoughts, or
pray you get lucky...

Hope this helps.

Ballendo
