Hi Ethan,

Is that one of the horizontal mills with the built-in rotary table
which is the 4th axis? It has a tool changer, right?

My pessimistic impression is those are extremely difficult to
retrofit whether you use a free(?) system like EMC or go high dollar
Fanuc.

Time frame.....years for the novice. Plus big bucks, I'm assuming
very little of the existing drives and motors would be useable,
easily $10K+ could be spent on new stuff.

No offense meant, but based on auction observations large older K&T's
have a market value around $25 or less. That tells me something
about their potentional for successful retrofits.

To get some feel for the task, how about checking with a professional
retrofitter in your area?
