Hi to the List,
I've received some money, and I'm looking to buy a "big brother" to the
Sherline mill. The ENCO, RongFu, Grizzly and Jet import mills are a
possibly, however what I'm really looking for is a EMCO FB-2 mill. The
EMCO's don't seem to be imported to the US any more. :>(
Blue Ridge no longer imports it. I'm afraid that Campbell Tools no
longer imports it either. Late news, I just talked to Leo at Campbell
Tools, and The EMCO is now coming out of Taiwan. He's not sure of
delivery. The PRAZI's come in at Hunnington Beach, CA.
*** Can anyone suggest other dealers that might import the EMCO (from
Austria)? ***
*** Are there any dealers on the list willing to quote the EMCO FB-2
(from Austria) or the PRAZI BF400? Please contact me off list with best
price. ***
The PRAZI is still available, but is it that much bigger then the
Sherline? It has a MT1 spindle, smaller then the EMCO or Sherline's MT2
in Blue Ridge's catalog, and an MT2 in Campbell's catalog. Any users
out there?
I've been in contact with Guy, the Myford mill (imported by Myford to
Myford spec, I'm told) would be about $2400 USD. Then I'd have to add a
200-300 $$ motor. Guy hasn't seen it yet! That was a while ago, I will
contact him again, and see in there is any news.
On the Asian 16" swing imports (E, R, G & J all look like they're the
same mill), I notice that they offer a "US MOTOR" as an option. I'm
just in this for the hobby, I won't be running a "real machine shop", so
is it worthwhile to get a US motor? Couldn't I replace it later, if
needed?
I appreciate hardware like EMCO, Myford and Sherline (shows my limited
knowledge), so I'm still leery of the Asian imports. What is the
principle problem with the imports? Does replacing the lead screws and
bearings, and doing a good alignment bring them up to spec?
How are the new ENCO's working guys?
