I have done this several times "the cheap and easy way" by using a 74HCT541
(8-bit buffer) in "series" with each data-bit line. This "buffers" the
data-port, and kinda acts as an "isolator". Maybe not a "Galvanic" isolation
like an opto-isolator, but a lot better than copper wire! Use sockets when
installing IC's on a home-brew PCB!!!
