They aren't. I ordered a $50 US riser block and some other small bits about
a month ago from Sherline. I wasn't aware that they shipped via UPS. I got
the stuff AND a bill for $37 CDN for the brokerage and taxes. If I ever
order from Sherline again (not a guarantee), I'll make sure that they send
it USPS. I've never had a problem with FedEx and this brokerage business,
only UPS. Also, when I complained they suggested that the package be marked
"Educational Material" so that duty taxes wouldn't apply. Most of the stuff
we do here could be considered educational right! :}
BTW, I live just outside Toronto.
