Hi Bill,

Good start! You didn't mention the size of the mill. Vector CAD/CAM is
a good choice, IMO. You can draw your parts, generate the tool paths,
generate the Gcode, and even do a simple emulation with the Qsim
program, which accompanies it. You will find that Vector CAD/CAM relies
heavily on the "cut and paste" methods of Windowz, and might at first
miss the "grid". But the concept of drawing lines always with the
thought of them being "vectors" (hence the name), will greatly aid the
later development of Gcode. It is convenient to use, and quite flexible
in the ability to reposition the "origin", and in selection of drawing
planes.

PLUS, It's currently available as a CAD-only version, SPECIAL for a very
small price from IMS (limited time)! Good way to check it out
yourself! I just tried it (I also have a full CAD/CAM version), and
found that with other then the ability to generate Gcode, the CAM-only
version is quite complete (a thorough examination was not made). Tool
part offsets, connect at Z, pockets, You already have an excellent start
generating tool paths! You can generate .DXF files, then use Yeager's
FREE .DXF to Gcode converter, and cut parts!

Thanks Fred!
