Don't use 8mm film, it is very grainy (low resolution). Use kodalith in a
35mm roll (if you are under 3' or so), or in a 100' roll (35mm film).
Kodalith has a heaver than normal base, so it will be easier to mount.
Technical Pan might also be appropriate.

How to you plan to expose the film?
