Its all about the accuracy you need. For a wood router, you don't need
huge amounts of accuracy for most things. If you intend to do inlays, etc..
then you need the accuracy of a ballscrew. I have used rack and pinion,
chain, and now use belt drive for my wood working. Repeatability can be a
problem with some methods, so judge from there. In general, if it works for
you, cool, if it doesn't ... upgrade.
