Hi, I first started using an early version of stepster, it was freebie and
it was good to get your feet wet. Then i got the board from hobby cnc and a
deal saved 10 bucks so i got desknc. It runs well in dos. i have run it on a
486-dx66 and 586-133 but dont see much difference in the cnc performance
except for a faster data fetch. I then downloaded the freebee from desknc
group for engraving and that works slick. i also made my own font same as i
had done years back at a printing co. It looks like the printing on Natoinal
forrest signs,(came from same place!) and it finnishes a letter and spaces
over to the start of the next letter. Slow but it allowed the wood chips to
fly.
and it allowed me to make #'s for the church pews in town....as for the
cad/can/converta-stuff i am not there yet. I have 1/8 collets comming and
also 4 1/8 collet spindle motors comming shortly. my "z" axis is only 3/4
inch and gravity feed so to speak(cam instead of screw) that will change
shortly. cul brian f.
