Mark Stacey: "We have, in a solid modeller, a marvellous opportunity
to ease the learning of beginner designers by simply flipping
the "accepted" curriculum on its end and following a more intuitive
path. Solid modelling is easy; far easier than 2D drafting of 3
dimensional objects, because beginners can see what they're creating
in a far more realistic illusion of 3D."
I have never recieved any formal training in tech draw or CAD, having
to learn that myself and depending on intuition for the rest. Took to
the 3D modelling in Autocad like duck to water, not been hampered
with too much familiarity with 2D drafting. Something inside me
vibrates with agreement when I read your earlier post about CAD and
education. How fast do Kiwis (they look like ducks to me) absorb 3D
matters from 2d matters like ortho projection, isometric, etc (like
Kiwis or Duck to water I suppose). Are Kiwis also obliged to learn
German and Dutch language together (I mean first and third angle
projection) and do they speak a mixture of German and Dutch (meaning
do they mix first and third angle projection in the same drawing)?
I wouldn't want to draw in 2D to try to represent a 3D object if I
can help it.
