It is a machine controller that is written by the NIST and available
free. It runs on a real time version of Linux. It can either drive
traditional servos using a Servo to Go motion card or stepper motors and
step and direction servos using the parallel port. There are also people
developing additional interface solutions such as Jon Elson's parallel
port servo and stepper interface. It does read relatively standard
g-code. The stepper output is either step and direction signals or
Bridgeport style phase signals.
