If those ALPs printers are functional don't tear them apart for the motors!
Those things are a commodity now and often sell for more than the original
price.

Out of curiosity - do these printers still work, and are they the ones that
tahe "ribbons" that are more like reels of tape? If so, some of the folks on
the model railroad decals group might be interested in them. Those printers
are no longer available in the US and some of the folks there liked using
them to print on decal paper. Their main advantages are that they can print
"white" and that they are pretty much waterproof.
