From my limited understanding of Bridgeports it works like this.
Series I or Series II defines the size of the machine. While these
particular machinew are normally CNC they were also made as manual
machines. A series I is about the size of a manual bridgeport mill. A
series II is a monster that stands about 95" and 5000+ lbs.
Boss refers to the specific control that is on the machine. Boss 1 - 6
(I think) were stepper systems. Higher number Boss controls are servos.
You can have any model Boss control on either a Series I or II.
So, to properly describe the machine you would have to say that it is a
Series I Boss 5 as an example.
