Bridgeport Milling Machines

Going to an auction where there are supposedly a few
Bridgeport milling machines. Thought somone had
mentioned on this list that there was a place on the
web where one could date a mill by the serial number.
I'd be interested in this information.

Trying to convice myself that I'm just going to look
around since my knowledge level isn't high enough to
keep from making a bad mistake. Are there certain
models of Bridgeport mills that are desireable to have
to convert to CNC? Are there any models that would be
a disaster to own if one wants to convert the mill to
CNC? For sure I am not interested in a overly large
machine just because it seems like too much trouble.

Any hints and tips on what to look for and to look out
for would appreciated. The auction is this coming
Saturday. Thanks in advance.
