HELLO ALL, JUST WANTED TO PUT IN MY 2 CENTS.
sorry, all caps, drafting thing. Anyhow, here at Protech, we use .cut
files,
and the only way we can produce them is a dxf to cut translator. The order
the objects
are drawn in is the order it will try to cut them in, but also it layer
'numbers'
(if you create layers 1, 2...etc...) will order them. Also, if you create
blocks, that
reorders the cut pattern (will cut the first block made... then the
second...etc...), NOW!
this overrides the layering convention. ALSO, you can get some pretty good
organization
by arraying... this may also apply to g-code outputs (in addition to cut
files).
thanks---Dave

I noticed a similar thing with AutoCAD 2000. The order you draw in is
the order the g-code is generated. G-code generators seem to take the
dxf script converts it one line at a time. Be careful how you draw or
reedit it latter.

Hi Fred,
Glad you saw what I did. I have found alot of GCode
files from other people with the same problem. The people
who used the Eagle software to make circuit boards never
mentioned this problem. I did a large circuit using the
Eagle software. The machine spends more time moving
then cutting. Tiny circuits don't show the problem. When you
layout your pads and traces in Eagle, you better do it
in order or the final GCode will have TSS big time.I find
the cheap fix is to trace the DXF or PLT file with a new layer
and then use that. John Kleinbauer pointed this problem
out to me. He also told me how to avoid the problem. I
found it odd that the problem was never discussed in this
forum.
