I use GA's (genetic algorithms) for NP-complete type problems, but thats
waaay off topic here - please contact me off-line if you are interested
in discussing such things.

Microstation (an advanced CAD package) does an excellent job of
reading all the various AutoCAD-generated DXF files. It has never
ceased to amaze me how AutoCAD itself is incapable of reading many
of its own previous-generation files!
