And the saga continues:
I finally figured out how to use cvs to download the latest stuff from
sourceforge. I actually had to move the computer to a different site
due to the firewall. I did not know how to get around it. Well I
downloaded and compiled. I used the install script from the linux.org
download. Everything compiled just fine. I tried to run emc.run and
got a lot of "could not set max velocity". There was a code change
17-Aug-2001 in emcSetMaxVelocity. I simply commented out the return
(fuction); to just return 0; I could get emc using stepmod.o to run.
Now trying with smdromod.o was not so good. On startup you could see X
and Y tracking and Z still stuck. But the jogging did not even work for
X and Y! Due to both myself and Allen F. (this message) getting the
same result I must assume the error is somewhere in the code.
Unfortunately I do not have the horsepower to track this error down.
Additionaly I did not get an opportunity to test deskncrt due to time
constraints.
We will be running our machine with stepmod.o for now until the DRO
board problem is fixed for the Z axis.
I wish to thank the people who took the time to respond to my messages.
We will be making lots of stuff with EMC.
