TurboCAD - Comments please

on 2001-09-05 11:19:04 UTC
I had/used a copy of TurboCAD way back when (V1.?, before the version was
quoted in the title)... it was a very basic package and like today was value
for the money... I then ended up using AutoSketch and still use it today for
quick 2D and isometric views of small parts... I found at that time, Sketch
had better (more logical to me) menu system and methodology to drawing a
part...
My first 3D experience was AutoDesk's 3D Concepts... this didn't get much
use though, although I remember it being logical to use... Then a few years
back I purchased ProDesktop... I found this pretty good to use but the
support has not been good for "the little guy"... they misrepresented it's
Win2K compatibility at the time of sale, so when I went to Win2K, ProDesktop
has not been used much, as I now only have it on a slow machine...

I have been looking to get another package to do 3D work, with view to use
for not only CAD presentations, but output for a CAM package... The thing
is, most of the many possible that I have looked at are either too expensive
(I burnt my money on ProDesktop, and can't afford that price range on round
two), or do not have a (once again, for me) logical/easy method of creating
parts...
TurboCAD is the right price and seems (from the P.R. literature) to have the
right capabilities for what I need/would like...
So I would like comment from those who have experienced Sketch, TurboCAD and
possibly ProDesktop or Pro-E with regards to the logic/methodology and menu
system similarities/differences, how easy you found it to learn, etc... Any
comparative comments are welcomed...

TIA,
Bryan
