Gentlemen,

Watching my 18 year old son learn Vector Cad-9, intellicad and Turbo cad has
been an interesting experience. David had no mechanical drawing experience
before this. He started out with Vector, with Fred's one day course offered
at Names. David was able to make some simple parts using Vector, after
going through the tutorial. He likes Vector.

But he wanted to make Cad drawings of whole machine configurations, and for
reasons he did not share with me, started looking around for another Cadd
program. A young man that draws every day in Autocadd, along with David and
another friend evaulated intellicad and found it came up short in ways
important to David who is interested in designing machinery.

Finally, David was persuaded by Turbocadd's salesmen to buy Their latest
program. Since then, he has been out in the shop office every moment he can
fit in, going through their audio training program, and he is very excited
about what he can draw. It seems to have the features that he liked in
Autocadd that allowed him as a young "inventor" to develop and illustrate
his ideas in Cadd. I am impressed with what he can do too. He believes it
has all the capabilities he was looking for in a general purpose cadd
program for designing machinery.

I am sure David will continue to use Vector to make G code for parts. I am
also interested in Stil works from Fred and Vcarve etc., but cannot justify
them yet. IMO, Fred's Vector support could not be improved upon. I don't
know whether David should have stuck only with Vector or not, as I have not
been that close to his work. I had kinda thought and hoped that Vector
would meet all his needs, especially since it was paid for, but for what
ever reason, he thought he needed something else as well.

I hope my 2 cents will help. David's email address is Techdave@...
if you have any further questions. I don't think he has subscribed to this
forum yet.
