I had talked with Tom some about attempting a port to linux and
voluntered to help, but my dro computer is still running Dos at the
moment so I haven't been exactly impatient to get to work on it.
Simply reading the enocder interface is fairly simple under any
operating system that permits direct access to hardware ports - I
wrote myself a custom application in BASIC to do manual numeric
cutting of a curved taper. The text mode version of the program
could probably be made to work under the linux dos emulator (dosemu)
when properly configured to allow access to hardware ports.
