manager, being able to maintain software remotely with all the
"up-to-date" patches in a central location, it makes life much
easier. Better yet, these updates always work, almost without a
reboot -- and don't introduce issues or prevent a system from
booting (usually because they required a reboot after installing).
The underlying Linux operating system is just as suseptible as
Windows NT/2000 when it comes to viruses. And when it comes to
Internet servers, Linux actually outnumbers NT/2000 servers -- so
it's not that "less popular" argument Windows advocates cling to.
But the security-by-default-install and ease of upgrading/patching
as well as remote administation results in a lower TCO for
enterprise networks IMHO. And I say this after administering both
NT and Linux for years.
